God’s Promises Are Yes
I wonder if this will ever come pass? Have God forgotten me? Did God even hear my prayer?
These and more are all the questions we ask ourselves and God, while we wait on Him to come through for us. We ponder on our prayer requests, trying to figure out if it will happen and then entertain voices from the devil. Although we might have just asked one question to assess what’s going on in our life, this one question has the potential to open the door to the devil. What he does then is walk in, get relaxed then begin to feed our mind with more negative and doubtful questions. We then cry out to God in fear and panic. If after crying out we do not receive an immediate miraculous response from the throne of Heaven we may move to make a negotiation; “God if you do not come through for me I will…”, like as if that bad attitude suppose to make God run off His throne and quickly attend to our needs. It does not work like that, sorry. God is sovereign and He isn’t afraid of our little negotiation tactics that comes from a place of fear and doubt. God is not the author of confusion and He is not the one who gave you that spirit of fear.
Stop doubting my promises and learn to trust me at my word, Gods says. His word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. His word is filled with all the good things He will do for us and He wants us to trust His word and not that of the devil. The moment we entertain one negative thought that is contrary to the Word of God we are giving the devil access into our life. That’s just what he wants. The devil loves it when we doubt and question the promises of God because he knows that this means he has access into our heart. We are encouraged to hide God’s Word in our heart so we might not sin against Him (Psalm 119:11) Why though? Why hide it? We need to learn it and store it in the secret place of our heart so that when the enemy comes in like a flood we will be able to raise up a standard against him and conquer him. As soldiers of Christ our main weapon is the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God! If it is hidden then he will not be able to find it and rip it into pieces. Think of it like this, when you hide something pretty good in the physical world (be it from your child, sibling or significant other) it is usually almost impossible for them to locate it. They may have to cause havoc before they can find it, if they even can. At one point after searching down the house they will eventually give up. They become defeated. They lose the battle. That’s exactly how it will be with the devil when we hide God’s Words in our heart. Eventually after trying to destroy us with his various tactics he will give up because of how deep we have hidden God’s Words in our heart.
If you are doubting God’s promises, my best advice to you is to spend time reading and studying His Word. Block out the distractions of this world for at least one hour everyday spending that intimate time with Him and you will be amazed at how much your mindset and life by extension will be transformed. Romans 12:2 reminds us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds so that will be able to know exactly what Gods wants for us and we will do His will well. How do we renew our minds? We renew it by studying and reading His Word and then applying it to our life. That time spent with Him will not only make us aware of what He wants for us but will also give us peace throughout our waiting season. He will also tell us great and unsearchable things that we didn’t know before and wouldn’t have known outside of His presence. The time we spend with Him, the more wisdom, knowledge and understanding we receive along our journey. He bestows unto us a wealth of knowledge that sets us apart from the chaotic world. Areas where we once were troubled because of the unknown, He reveals His Truth which carries an unimaginable peace. We learn to completely cast our cares on Him and really leave it there. We choose to believe when everyone else doubts. We learn that no matter what the situation looks like God will still come through if He said so. We learn to trust Him when everyone is living in fear and even when the situation says we should be fearful. We decide to move at the sound of His voice because we become very familiar with it. We learn to pack our bags and move to the place where He will tell us. We choose to walk by Faith and not by sight because we understand that he loves us unconditionally and when He says no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly, He truly means it. We learn to trust Him without borders when we choose to abide in Him.
Abba does not want us to doubt Him. He doesn’t want you to doubt Him. Instead what He is saying is Trust in me with ALL your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in ALL your ways acknowledge me and I will direct your path. Stop worrying about when God’s promises will come to pass but instead choose to abide in Him and allow His Spirit to comfort and guide you. Allow Him to give you the peace and rest you need in this waiting season. It won’t be long anymore. Soon before you know it, His blessings will flow nonstop. He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that you could ever ask or think according to the power that works in you. So, from where you are standing, stand in faith that whatever He promised you, He will bring it to pass. No matter what the situation looks like, He is going to come through for you. Trust Him. God’s promises are Yes, He needs your agreement in Him.
For as many as are the promises of God, in Christ they are [all answered] “Yes.” So through Him we say our “Amen” to the glory of God.
