Event Planning Guide: Learn How to Thrive by Pushing Past Fear and Embracing God’s Call
Fear of Event Failure
Having the task to plan and execute an event can be rather daunting. I’ve been there and I can relate. However, I’ve pushed through my doubts and fears and successfully executed a Sisters’ Breakfast Event and I want to help you succeed also.
When the Lord placed it on my heart to host a “Sisters’ Event” I thought it was a strange assignment. I didn’t understand why He wanted this event to be executed. I knew, I liked the idea of events, and how they bring people together. I love planning and seeing how everything seamlessly is executed. However, I also feared stepping out of my comfort zone and sharing the idea for fear of rejection, judgement and lack of interest. I somehow carried this fear around from when I was a young teen. Back then I had this grand idea to host a youth dance/music video and shared it with the group and it wasn’t accepted well. I was laughed at. They didn’t see its possibility and rejected the pursuit of it. Little did I know that this experience years ago had become a hindrance to me doing great things that God himself would call me to do. I didn’t realise then that this incident would have stunted my creativity for fear of failure and rejection in so many areas of my life. I didn’t know.
Push Pass the Fear
Years later, God placed the desire in my heart to host a sisters’ event and though I really wanted to pursue it, I kept pushing it off. Maybe you are like me and God has placed a desire on your heart and because of fear you keep pushing it off. By doing this we are hindering the power of God to work in and through us. We are truly hindering our own progress. When we do this we are collaborating with the enemy to execute his plan in our life. This enemy wants to kill, steal and destroy us. We are becoming our very own stumbling blocks! Don’t you see that God wants you to live well and thrive in this life? It’s time to get up and walk out this life with true Godly purpose, knowing that God is with you, wherever He calls you.
Planning and Executing
Though I delayed on this project, I eventually executed it with the help of one of my sisters. She became my co-planner. I wasn’t sure how it would have turned out or how I would fund it. As I sat with God and planned out the event He confirmed to me the date I should host it and He even told me what dress to wear. This event was purposefully planned to spend quality time together, enjoying good food while we encourage each other. This was necessary because along life we sometimes need that extra voice to cheer us on!
Event Planning Scrapbook
Following the instructions of God made it easier of course. Creating an Event Planning Scrapbook made the process a lot more feasible. We were able to stay on track and monitor the progress of planning. It was a DIY event, so I used canva.com as my designing tool to prepare my invitations. Everyone was to bring a food item, dress up in the coded wear and simply show up to have a fantastic time. My sister even hired a professional photographer. Cheers to that!!!
You have what it takes
I realised that I didn’t have to worry and all I needed to do was execute the vision He gave me. God went over and beyond providing everything I needed and more even the things I wanted like cheese cake! Yes!!!! This was His gift to me I believe, hahaha!
God will do the same for you too. When God calls you to do something, go ahead and do it because once He is in it, He will Always Provide.
